How a sale works, in plain terms. Two ways to sell, one set of rules for how the lot is read and paid for. Trade only: we buy from dealers, not the public.

Come to us
Booth 57, 37 W 47th St, New York. Open Monday to Friday, 10:30 am to 5:00 pm. Walk in any weekday, no appointment needed, or book a time online. New suppliers are paid 98% of melt.
We come to you
A buyer visits your shop, within about five hours of New York. Book a visit online. A visit is a request until we confirm it, and visits are booked weekdays, 10:30 am to 5:00 pm. New suppliers are paid 97% of fine content.

What the figure on the form is

The form shows what you would be paid for the lot as you describe it, at today's market. It is an estimate and it does not hold the price: nothing is reserved and nobody is committed until the lot is on the counter and the reading is agreed. Grade is an estimate until it is assayed, and nobody weighs a mixed lot to the pennyweight before bringing it in, so a difference between the declaration and the lot is normal.

When the lot and the declaration differ

The weight is not what you declared
You are paid for the weight actually handed over, weighed in front of you.
The grade is not what you declared
The reading on the counter governs. Your declaration sets the estimate; the test sets the payment. The assay is witnessed, read on XRF, with an acid test when the lot calls for one, while you are standing at it.
You disagree with the assay
Say so before anything is agreed, while you are at the counter.

Tested at the counter

Where a lot changes hands

In person only
No mail-in and no shipping, in either direction. You hand the lot over and you are there while it is weighed, tested and paid for.
The counter
Booth 57, 37 W 47th St, Monday to Friday, 10:30 am to 5:00 pm. Ask for David or Egor. Any distance: a dealer who would rather come in is served at the counter whatever the drive.
A visit to your shop
A buyer visits shops within about five hours of New York. Outside that, you are welcome at Booth 57.
Whose risk it is
From the moment the lot leaves your hand it is ours.

Payment

When
The same day, in cash, once the reading is agreed.
Weights
Everything is recorded and paid in the unit you weighed it in. We do not convert your weight into another unit and hand it back. The figure you check should be the figure you weighed.
Who we buy from
Trade only. We buy from dealers, not the public. We buy gold (8K to 24K), silver and platinum: scrap, bench sweeps, broken stock, dental.

Checked weights
Whatever unit you weighed in is the unit you are settled in. Grams settle in grams, pennyweight in pennyweight, troy ounces in troy ounces.
